Her Past

She boiled water and threw hot water in the bird’s cage; the bird’s feet got burn, and eventually, the bird died. She got aggravated with the mice that took over the cottage; therefore, she decided to cook them with hot water. Theresa loved the bird, and somehow, no pets can not stay alive around her mother.
Her mother woke up at three am and started to recite all the verses from the bible that she memorized. Theresa asked her what happened and told her, “please, I need to go to sleep?” She did not answer her, but the next day when Theresa came home, she heard her on the phone with a friend, and she said: “ the devil came to get me.” Theresa told a friend what happened to her mother, and her friend stated: “ your mother’s past is coming to haunt her.” That is so sad because Theresa did not know that can happened; she witnessed most of the behaviors that her mother displayed.

Theresa said, “I realized that my mother’s past experiences had affected me very much. I didn’t let go of what happened to her after my father’s death. How do I live my life and follow the plan that God has for me? Yes, I am the oldest, but I need to live my life. I need to let go of the past, especially my mother’s past hurts. My siblings are living their life as nothing happened to us, but they were very young to remember anything, what do I need to do to live my life. She said that I am close to her heart; it is because I am the oldest, or I am the one that saw the experiences she went through. Maybe it is because I have a different personality than some of my siblings. I feel like she has a hold on my life, and I want to make it so she could let go of me for a while. When I was married, I was able to distance myself from that hold. Too much happened to her; I want to see her living a great life and enjoy her life. I want her to see the positive aspect of life. God, help me.

Theresa saying does not wake Adam from his sleep; what it means is if a person is not making the right move in the direction of a relationship or commitment, do not push him or help him make up his mind.
In Theresa’s case, Mat wasn’t ready for a relationship or marriage, especially since he couldn’t come up with all the money for a down payment on the house that he wanted to buy. However, Theresa went and took all her saving and lend it to him; then, she realized that he wasn’t to pay her back. She was already in a relationship with him, and he acted like a real man at that time. She saw the potential, so she decided to go for him, she was thirty years old and in her culture; that’s considered an old maid if you’re not married.
Theresa’s mom told her that she was the oldest of nine children and the baby after she died stillborn. The next children are twins, and they are very close, and they support each other. After the twins are Theresa’s brother, who is the spitting image and personalities of Theresa’s dad. The next baby after her brother died also, but Theresa’s mom didn’t know that the child next to her was dead until her sister came to visit her at the hospital noticed that the baby was killed. Theresa’s mom told her that the baby was so beautiful and had long legs and arms. Her mother left the hospital without paying a dime because the hospital staffs were negligent. Hence, a friend of Theresa’s mom told her to exit the hospital without any discharge paper. Therefore, she didn’t have to pay for the hospital. Soon Theresa’s mom got pregnant and gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
